Madina Diary 2013

Day 1 - 28/4/13

Road trip to Madinah.

I was just pondering over the migration our Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) and his followers made from Makkah to Madinah. There were no cars in those days, no AC, no GPS system. They would just walk miles on end in the scorching heat and their trust would be in Allah. SubhanAllah, a truly great event in the history of Islam that we don't appreciate enough. This was the stepping stone to a big change for the Muslims. It was a step that lead to the revival and establishment of Islam. May Allah be pleased with the Muhajiroon.

Day 2 - 29/4/13

Ahhh Madina is absolutely beautiful. It's so peaceful here, so calm, so relaxed! Already love this place and I've only been here a day! To know that the Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) walked on the same grounds I am standing on right now, is a thought that gives me goosebumps. I love the history of Islam. Madina is packed with history. The place gives you feelings of serenity. Indeed Allah showered His mercy on Madina and its inhabitants, and made it a city so tranquil. Madina was beloved to our Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) and it too is beloved to me.

Day 3 - 30/4/13

Jum'uah was awesome MashaAllah TabarakAllah. I grasped some of the things the Khateeb wa saying so was happy that I understood even a teeny bit of it! Alhamdulilah :)
I look forward to Maghrib times. I love to watch the sunset. The sky goes from a light blue, to a pale violet, and then a spectacular purple colour. Blessed is He the best of creators. And then with the pillars of the Masjid soaring up high, you can't help but sit and marvel at the beauty above you!

Sometimes it's the little things in life that bring us great joy. Things like the Masjid umbrellas opening and closing. Soo pretty - definitely something unique to Masjid Nabawi. :D

"Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty" (Sahih Muslim) I was thinking about how awe-inspiring and intricate the designs inside of the Masjid are. Indeed Allah loves all things beautiful. Make He make us beautiful inside and out.

Day 4 - 31/4/13

You see so many kids at the haram. Some of them will join in the prayers with you, others will be exploring the masjid. You see the little ones having the time of their life...running all over the place... Across the spacious floors of the haram! Children are a huge blessing and an amanah too. We need to give them the best childhood possible because that's where their learning begins. That's when they are most likely to remember what you teach them and develop their habits and personalities. What better place is there, than the city of Rasulullah (Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) to have your kids grow up in? To understand, you need to see with your own eyes the ettiquetes some of the children here carry, and their maturity at such a young age. I want my children to know the city of their Prophet (Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) inside out and its history.

All the kids at the haram seem to be so happy, playing about, running around..
but at the same time they're learning and their experiencing the atmosphere of this most beautiful city, and they're hearing the Adhaan been called 5 times a day, they're praying amongst the elders...all that is being absorbed into their little brains and will be hopefully affecting them and their growing personalities.

May Allah grant us all children who will be the coolness of our eyes, and may He fill their hearts with the love of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.

Day 5 - 1/5/13

Going to miss...

Hearing the Adhaan been called live 5 times a day...
Just having time to myself with my Lord in the beautiful city of Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam)...
Recalling all the history and events that took place in Madinah...
Watching the sunset at Maghrib...♥
Walking with thousands of worshippers to the Masjid - people from all walks of life...
Admiring the beauty of the Masjid and the natural beauty of Madina..

I would love to migrate to Makkah or Madinah. More inclined to Madina because it's not as busy and it's got this very serene feel. They seriously need to open an islamic university for women in Madina - that'd be like another dream come true <3

Anyone know how these really awesome women that volunteer at Masjidil Nabawi, actually get such an amazingly rewarding job? I admire them so much MashaAllah. It takes alot of hardwork and effort to get sisters to do the right thing and assemble them in rows for Salaah! They do it so well and I pray Allah rewards them for all their efforts!

Day 6 - 2/5/13

It is true that visiting both harams sows a seed in your heart, once you've experienced it you forever yearn for more. It's like you've finally found your sense of belonging, you've finally found where your heart and soul is at peace. Nothing is more painful than leaving a place where you feel most happy, but like every journey it soon has to come to an end and so it's time to say goodbye...
